EPHAS Values-Based Company Story

In 2015, the U.S. Department of Labor brought sweeping changes to the financial services industry. Jason’s client, Regina, was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer, and Chick-fil-A put out a video called, “Everyone Has A Story,” that tells the individual stories of people buying their chicken sandwiches. This set the stage for what would come next for our company.

The desire for our company to understand every person as a unique individual and deliver to every person a completely customized experience of planning and service around their story was formed. At that time, in the financial services marketplace, new legislation and regulations were being written, the U.S. political scene was beginning to bubble with President Obama leaving office and the election on the horizon.

Amidst this seeming chaos and confusion, Jason looked at his practice and the way he had been trained and saw an opportunity to change. He saw an opportunity to focus on the individual client in a way they had not previously. Jason was plucked from the matrix of the captive financial planning juggernauts and started EPHAS-Every Person Has A Story, to bring his faith in God and his love for people, the facts they need to know to have a personal strategy that is unique to them, with loving care, and kindness.

Our Values: Faith, Love, Truth, Unique Strategy, Kindness

Faith

Jesus Christ is the center of how we live our lives and run our business.

Love

Love is an important theme in the Bible (Matthew 22:39; Mark 12:31; Luke 6:27; Matthew 5:44; 19:19; John 13:34) and four times echoed in the epistles (Romans 13:9; Galatians 5:14; James 2:8; I John 4:7). As Paul put it: “The greatest of these is love (I Corinthians 13:13).” There are three main love commands: 1) Love God and neighbor; 2) Love your enemies; 3) Love one another.

Truth

Facts over feelings. We do not follow opinion, we look at the facts and educate on the facts.

Unique Strategy

Every person and every situation is different and we act as a fiduciary offering advice based on the individuals situation.

Kindness

This is a commitment to treat all clients and coworkers with care and kindness. Each person has their own struggles and we will not judge or condemn.
